This slow growing trifoliate maple makes a vase-shaped rounded head that is interesting throughout the seasons. The emerging bronzy leaves turn green in summer and take on shades of brilliant yellow, red and purple in fall. The bark is a handsome gray to grayish brown. Prefers a loamy, moist but well-drained acid soil but can be in many types of soil. Like other trifoliate maples, makes a fine specimen for the small property or garden. Native to China and Japan.
