Green succulent foliage remains evergreen in winter and is covered by magenta flowers all summer. We have observed this plant for several years and have been very impressed by the performance and hardiness of this South African native.

Ice Plants are native to South Africa. These hardy species come from an area of the Drakensberg Mts. where it is cold enough for snow and skiing. Use like a sedum in hot sunny locations in gardens that have good drainage especially in winter. They are very useful in rock and alpine gardens or as ground covers. ‘John Proffitt’ is very hardy with evergreen foliage covered by magenta flowers in summer.
