Small deciduous shrub with graceful arching branches and foliage that can range from shades of green to dusty blue. Anise scented Andromeda-like flowers appear in June. This is an ericaceous plant related to Leucothoe and in the same family as Blueberries requiring acid, moist, well drained soil in sun or partial shade for best growth. Leaves turn a reddish-purple in the fall. Intolerant of heat and drought. Native to southeastern U.S.
