Creamy yellow flowers are produced throughout the summer against a background of ferny foliage. Seeds are sterile but it can spread by rhizomes.  Perennial Plant of the Year 1992. Useful in rock gardens, naturalization, borders and native gardens. The species is native to the eastern U.S.
