NEVIUSIA alabamensis

Forms an upright open shrub with arching branches. Twigs are straw-colored, the bark is exfoliating and orange-brown in color. The 1″ feathery white flowers appear in mid-May creating a shower of white in the shrub border. Prune after flowering. Though the plant is native to the southeastern U.S. it is extremely hardy preferring a partially shaded location in soil that is moist but well-drained.
