This unusual cultivar of the native Shining Sumac has only 5 leaflets instead of the normal 15-21. The thick and glossy dark green foliage lives up to the name Shining Sumac and is a real attention getter. In late fall the foliage turns a brilliant scarlet to burgundy. White clusters of flowers appear in late August. The plant is more compact and a slower grower than the species and can slowly colonize. Use as a specimen or for massing. We are growing plants as small trees for specimen use or in large containers. Selected from a native species.
